Structural Analysis Model of the week 💡
🆕 Lookout Tower in Schömberg, #Germany
👉 The lookout tower's floor plan is made of a regular dodecagon shape, consisting of twelve radial timber columns. These columns attach to the platform levels with a pinned connection, while at the base point, they are supported by approximately 4,5 m high rigid reinforced concrete columns.
👉 The structure's lateral stiffness is reinforced by a diagonal tension member bracing system that includes six circumferential steel pipe compression rings. The three platforms consist of flat cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels, each designed as a horizontal wall. 🌳🏢
👉 Overall, the lookout tower showcases a beautiful blend of natural and man-made elements, resulting in a unique and sturdy structure. 🌲🔨
