Description

Because EN 1991-1-4 does not address internal wind pressure for laterally open structures, it is recommended to apply the regulations according to the previous German DIN 1055-4.

This video demonstrates wind flow with simultaneous pressure and suction forces utilizing the "RWIND Simulation" program on four different building types.

As given in DIN 1055-4, the following cases are analyzed:
- One side open
- Two adjacent sides open
- Two opposite sides open
- Open on three sides

To determine pressure and suction on the surfaces, the pressure coefficients (cp) are displayed in color. The red areas represent wind pressure (cp > 0) and the blue areas represent wind suction (cp < 0).

The RWIND models are based on the simplified representations according to DIN 1055-4, Section 12.1.9, Figure 11 "Pressure coefficients on inner surfaces of laterally open structures". All models can be downloaded here on our website.
