The reduced moment of inertia Iy for WAB HEB 340‑340, for example, is calculated as follows:
red Iy = 0.8 * A * ((H - tg) / 2)2
red Iy = 0.8 * 150.50 * ((51.00 - 2.15) / 2)2 = 71,828 cm4
The loading can be applied incrementally. The increment option is especially useful for calculations according to the large deformation analysis. For members, you can consider shear deformations and apply internal forces to a deformed or undeformed structural system. In addition, RFEM allows you to perform post‑critical analyses.
The calculation can be performed for all member types according to the linear static, second-order, or large deformation analysis. This selection option is available for load cases and load combinations. Additional calculation parameters are individually adjustable for load cases, load combinations, and result combinations. This ensures a high degree of flexibility with regard to the calculation method and detailed specifications.
In the individual load cases or combinations, there is the option to modify the stiffnesses of materials; cross-sections; nodal, line and surface supports; and member and line hinges for all or selected members. Furthermore, it is possible to consider initial deformations from other load cases or load combinations.
The load cases included in the result combinations are calculated first. Then, the results are superimposed by taking into account the corresponding factors. In the result combinations, you can superimpose the results of load cases, load combinations, and other result combinations. Internal forces are added together by default. However, there is the option of a square addition, which is relevant for dynamic analysis.
