Load Cases and Combinations for Design

In the add-on modules, do I use load cases or load or result combinations for the design process? Does the particular add-on module (for example, RF‑/FOUNDATION Pro) create the required load combinations automatically?

Answer:
For the design, you should basically select the design load in the respective design situation to be analyzed. That is, for example, "ULS" or "SLS".

Now, it is important that the add-on modules in RFEM 5 or RSTAB 8 do not automatically generate these design load cases. Therefore, it is not sufficient to only select load cases in the add-on modules: Before starting the calculation, you need to manually create or generate the load combinations or result combinations. You can then use these combinations for the design in the add-on modules.

However, if you want to perform the design in an add-on module explicitly for a specific load case, you can select this load case, of course. If several individual load cases are selected for the design, the design is performed one load case at a time.
