Adapted Method (Enable Double Bending)

I cannot analyze a UPN cross-section subjected to double bending in the program. Is it possible to do this in the program?

Answer:

Symmetric cross-sections subjected to double bending can be designed using the Adapted Method. This method is not a part of the standard, but is taken from the literature [1].

To activate this, open the Ultimate Configuration and, in the Stability tab, turn on the Extension methods, select the European lateral-torsional buckling curve, and activate the Adapted method.

The adapted general method allows you to design biaxial bending of cross-sections that are symmetric about one axis. It can also be used for monosymmetric tapered members and member sets with biaxial bending (torsion is currently not considered).

Some National Annexes (for example, Germany) allow this method to be used for I-sections only.

For a design including torsion, you can use the Torsional Warping add-on.
