Convert Line Load to Surface Load

When modeling a load in RFEM, line loads on surfaces are used very often. This may be a line load directly related to a particular load, or a free line load entered at the start and end coordinates.

Regardless of whether it is a line load or a free line load, the concentrated load introduction can lead to singularity problems. In order to prevent concentrated load introduction, the line loads can be optionally converted to surface loads. To do this, select the line load first and open the related shortcut menu by right-clicking the line load. Then, select the "Convert to Surface Load..." option in the shortcut menu. A dialog box appears where you can enter the load distribution angle as well as the thickness of the flooring in order to convert the line load to a surface load. The line load is then converted to a free polygonal load. Optionally, you can also manage the selection of surfaces to which the polygonal load is to be applied.

Similarly to the line loads, you can also convert concentrated loads to surface loads. For example, the concentrated loads of wheel loads can be converted to surface loads.
