Converting Old Intersections

If intersections created in RFEM 4 are opened in an RFEM 5 file, the file management of intersections remains in the old format for compatibility reasons. Thus, the individual partial surfaces of the intersection can be activated or deactivated using only the "Integrated/Components" tab, all partial surfaces can only have the same thickness, and it is impossible to use the separate FE mesh refinement for the individual surface components.

In order to use all functions for intersections developed in RFEM 5, you can select the "Create surface components as stand-alone partial surfaces" check box in General Data of the model ("Edit" → "Model Data" → "General Data"), "Option" tab. Thus, the active and inactive partial surfaces are imported automatically.

In this way, it is now possible, for example, to deactivate several components at the same time using the shortcut menu (right‑click the selected surface), specify different thicknesses for the individual components, and apply the FE mesh refinement relevant for the component.
