Why does the direction of a cutting pattern edge line in the support area change suddenly?

The change of direction results from the 0% line compensation in the 'Different Compensation by Line' tab for the boundary line in the support zone.


This setting requires that the boundary line in the support zone retains the line length, regardless of the compensation that has been set in the surface. Since the weld lines adjoining the neighboring blanks are allowed to change lengths due to the compensation set in the entire surface, the algorithm seeks out the geometrically unsound but energetically balanced solution.


The abrupt change is avoided if the relevant boundary lines are allowed to relax freely in the flattening process.
