3.1.6 Plasticity

Plasticity

This tab allows for settings of the advanced plastic analysis for cross-sections. You can access the entries if the RF-/STEEL Plasticity module extension is licensed.

In the cross-section design performed by the elastic-plastic design method, linear elastic material behavior is assumed for the calculation of the internal forces Sd, and linear elastic-perfectly plastic material behavior for the calculation of the resistances Rd. Thus, the cross-section's reserves are used but the possibly available plastic reserves of the system are not considered. When the limit internal forces are reached in the fully plastic state, the ultimate limit state is reached.

If you want the program to Perform advanced plastic design checks acc. to [1] and [2], select the check box (literature in manual: [10] and [11]). Then, the other dialog sections become accessible.
