About Project
The project “Westfield Černý Most – Reinforcement of Parking Ceiling” focuses on modifying the ceiling structure of the parking area between the 1st and 2nd floors. Due to a change in use and an increase in the live load on the ceiling at the 1st floor level, it is necessary to reinforce the existing structure. This intervention involves removing part of the ceiling at the 2nd floor level and subsequently reinforcing the ceiling panels with new replacements that will ensure the required load-bearing capacity and stability of the entire system.
Structural Technical Solution
The ceiling is reinforced by replacing the spiroll ceiling panels, which are supported by new beams and a pair of perpendicularly mounted joists. The structure is designed as a grid, where the beams and joists are mutually embedded. Rectangular welded sections are used to minimize the height of the structure and eliminate beam deflection. The removal of the ceiling on the second floor leads to an increase in the support length of the existing reinforced concrete columns, which requires stabilizing "belting" in the form of a truss column made of square tubes, which transfers part of the load and ensures the stability of the structure. The lower part of the bracing is designed for suspending reinforcing beams. Due to the loss of ceiling rigidity as a result of demolition, it is necessary to use diagonal stiffeners between the columns. Horizontal rigidity will be ensured by shear restraints and expansion joints.
The analysis of the steel structure and design of steel elements were carried out in RFEM.
