Determination of Remaining Service Life of Riveted Railway Bridges

The objective of this thesis was to apply the guideline ONR 24008 in combination with the calculation scheme and the collective factor alpha of Guideline 805 of the German railway company Deutsche Bahn and to compare the results of Guideline 805 of Deutsche Bahn and the Swiss railways. The analysis concerns three railway bridges of the Austrian railway ÖBB route network, having the rough span lengths 43 m, 21 m, and 4 m on the basis of these three guidelines.

Furthermore, fatigue design of a bridge in Vienna was performed and evaluated following the hypothesis of the linear cumulative damage according to Palmgren, Miner, and Langer.

"The use of your program RSTAB is not the focus of my thesis because it is about the remaining life of railway bridges and different analysis models are presented. However, it was a great support to me when I evaluated the bridges by structural and stress analysis.

I would like to congratulate you on this excellent analysis software."
