Markus Baumgärtel Calculation RFEM RSTAB 5.xx 8.xx

I have performed a comparative calculation of a single-nave frame with rigid support nodes. Restraining end moments of frame posts on the supports are significantly smaller than in the structural analysis of the release lever or in the manual calculation using frame equations. Is there any explanation for this?

Answer

You have probably assumed in the manual calculation that the shear stiffness G·A goes towards infinity.

The reason for this deviation of the distribution of internal forces and deformations is usually the consideration of shear stiffness of members, which is activated in RFEM/RSTAB by default. This option can be unselected in the 'Calculation Parameters' dialog box, if required.
