I have imported the structural data by using the import functions or direct interfaces. How does the material assignment work, so that the materials are also accepted by the design modules?

Answer

In most cases, the material's name is only transferred. If the name differs from the name in the Dlubal Software material library, neither the basic parameters (modulus of elasticity, shear modulus, etc.) nor the additional properties (yield strengths, tensile strengths, limit strains, etc.) are defined. In such cases, it is not even possible to determine the internal forces of the structure.

Some interfaces (for example, Revit) are able to transfer the basic properties. However, problems occure in the case of the design modules as they require additional material properties. These are only available as a piece of information in the Dlubal Software libraries.

We can resolve this topic by linking the name of the imported material with the unique name of the Dlubal Software material library. This linking can be done in the conversion tables. To open the tables, click "File" - "Import" in the "Details" tab. The handling is relatively simple. On the left, enter the material name from the export file or the CAD application. On the right, enter the name corresponding to the Dlubal Software material library. It can also be opened directly.

If you have several entries with a similar notation, you can use "Regular Expressions." Further help can be found in the conversion file itself. The path is shown in the detailed settings.

The user is requested to create own tables. Dlubal Software cannot provide any tables due to the multitude of programs and notations.
