Using Edge Members in Wind Load Generator
Tips & Tricks
When using the wind load generator for vertical walls with the roof, it may be necessary to load the edge members on eaves or on a gable only with wind loads of the roof. For structural reasons, the horizontal wind loads should apply to the vertical walls by the facade.
In previous versions, it was necessary to apply the wind loads separately to the walls and the roof with the corresponding generators and exclude the unwanted members. Now it is possible to directly consider the effect mentioned above using the combined wall/roof generator.
For this, select the option ‘Do not load members common for roof and wall with wall wind loads’ in the Settings dialog box. Thus, the loads of vertical walls do not apply to the edge members, but they are distributed on supports as shown in the figure. The edge member is loaded only by a part of the roof.
