Combinations of Crane Loads: EN 1990 + EN 1991-3; Cranes
Tips & Tricks
The automatic creation of combinations in RFEM and RSTAB with the “EN 1990 + EN 1991‑3; Cranes” option allows you to design crane runway beams as well as support loads on the rest of the structure.
During the definition of load cases, you need to specify the corresponding action categories to be used in the combinations. The categories A through D with their corresponding class names are from the EN 1991‑3 standard and should be used for designing runway beams. This means that if you want to carry out a preliminary design of a runway beam in RFEM or RSTAB, you need to use these categories for the individual load cases.
The “general” category should be used for those load cases in which the support reactions from the calculation of the crane runway beam are to be combined for the rest of the construction.
The individual partial safety and combination coefficients can be adjusted manually in the “Coefficients” dialog box.
