The structural analysis software RFEM 6 is the basis of a modular software system. The main program RFEM 6 is used to define structures, materials, and loads of planar and spatial structural systems consisting of plates, walls, shells, and members. The program also allows you to create combined structures as well as to model solid and contact elements.

In case of a crash, a backup file is automatically created by RFEM. This file is not directly available to the user but can be restored when restarting the program. RFEM will prompt a dialog box asking if you want to Delete or Restore the file (Image 1).
If you select Restore, the automatic backup file is restored. The automatic backup file is dependent on the the time defined in Program Options & Settings (Image 2).
If you select Delete, your model will be opened from the point of your last manual save.
To access the Viewer again, you only need to create a new shortcut on the desktop and enter the following parameters:
For RFEM 5.26:
"C:\Program Files\Dlubal\RFEM 5.26\RFEM64.exe" /Viewer
For RSTAB 8.26:
"C:\Program Files\Dlubal\RSTAB 8.26\RSTAB64.exe" /Viewer
The existing program link can also be copied and supplemented with the addition /Viewer.
The "Auto Hide" setting may be active. In this case, please move the mouse over the strip visible on the edge of the window. The tables (or the navigator) should then be displayed again. If this does not solve the problem, you can restore the default settings. Please proceed as follows:
The panel may have been placed in the background. You can easily deactivate this function (see image).
However, it is also possible that the panel has been accidentally docked at the bottom of the screen (below the table). The video shows how you can dock the panel to any edge of the screen again with just a few clicks.
Check to see if all structural components are activated under "Model" in Project Navigator - Display.
Visibilities are managed in the Views navigator. Click the [Cancel Visibility Mode] button to restore the display of all objects.
RFEM/RSTAB have an integrated backup function. You can find it in the working directory of the program. The current models are created here as subfolders of the program version. They contain all the files created during the input and calculation, including the backup file Position.bak.
The working directory is created after the installation. You can find the file location using the menu "Options → Program Options" in the "Data Files" tab when setting the Working Directory category.
Copy the Position.bak file to another folder and then rename it "Model.rf5" or "Model.rs8". Thus, you can open the file with RFEM or RSTAB.
The Position.bak file is automatically deleted when you quit the program correctly. However, if the program crashes, the file still exists. You can restore it as described. When you open RFEM/RSTAB after a program crash, a message appears asking whether the backup file (Position.bak) should be opened again. Confirm it with [Yes] in order to load the backup file.
Note:The automatic backup file will be overwritten as soon as you start working with another model or if you leave the old model open for too long (for example, a day).
You can define the interval of automatic file saving using the menu "Options → Program Options" in the "Program" tab.
The project file is usually unaffected when updating. Moreover, when you uninstall the program, no models are deleted. Only the links contained in the Project Manager will be lost during the uninstall. However, they are retained in case of an update.
User-defined toolbars, settings for display properties, and so on, can be saved in the Configuration Manager (see the image). This backup file can then be easily restored in case the settings are lost.
The directory tree in Project Manager is managed in the PRO.DLP file. This is located in folder C:\ProgramData\Dlubal\Global\Project Manager by default. You can check the directory paths of the Project Manager in the "Program Options" dialog box (click the Project Manager menu "Edit → Program Options").
If you copy the PRO.DLP file from your old computer to the corresponding folder of the new computer, the original structure will be restored in the Project Manager. It is no longer necessary to integrate the individual projects.
Important: In order to link the projects correctly on the new computer, the projects must have the same locations. Therefore, copy the project files into the directories and folders of the same name on the new computer. Furthermore, you can transfer the user-defined libraries:
You can restore the individual files. In the Project Manager menu "Edit", you have access to the Dlubal Recycle Bin. Here, you can see a list of deleted files.
In the "Edit" menu, you can also specify settings of the disk space and file folders of the Dlubal Recycle Bin.
