Nodal Constraint Type Diaphragm

Tips & Tricks

In the latest version of RFEM, nodal constraint was implemented. Therefore, it is now possible to connect the nodes in an ideal way. The diaphragm type represents the option to couple nodes in a plane. This option is available not only for the global coordinate system, but also for user‑defined coordinate systems.

The diaphragm constraint has the function of a rigid membrane, which acts solely in the previously selected plane. Deformations acting out of the plane are not affected by this constraint type. This restriction provides a computationally efficient way to model soils, plates, or structures with a very large stiffness in the plane.
