Our webservice offers users the opportunity to communicate with RFEM 6 and RSTAB 9 using various programming languages. Dlubal's high-level functions (HLFs) allow you to expand and simplify the WebService's functionality. In line with RFEM 6 and RSTAB 9, using our WebService makes the engineer's work easier and faster. Check it out now! This tutorial shows you how to use the C# library by means of a simple example.
For a timber connection as shown in Figure 01, you can take into account the torsional spring rigidity (spring stiffness for rotation) of the connections. You can determine it by means of the slip modulus of the fastener and the polar moment of inertia of the connection.
In the case of wall-like load-bearing behavior of the cross-laminated timber plate, special attention must be paid to the shear deformation in the plane of the pane and thus, in particular, to the displaceability of the fasteners.
In timber design, beams are often built from several timber elements. The individual elements can be connected with glue, nails, bolts, or dowels. A glued connection is to be assumed as rigid. In the case of dowel‑type fasteners, the joint is compliant (slip joint), and the cross‑section properties of the connected elements cannot be fully applied.
An interface can be used to export the RFEM/RSTAB printout report to VCmaster and continue editing there. VCmaster is a word processing program for engineers.
Printout reports created in RFEM and RSTAB can be transferred to VCmaster using a direct interface and further processed there. VCmaster (formerly BauText) is a word processing program for engineers. Calculations, drawings, photos, and documents from various sources can be easily compiled, managed and used again with VCmaster.
The product range of Dlubal Software contains various modules for the design of steel and timber connections. The RF-/JOINTS Steel – Column Base add-on module allows you to analyze footings of hinged or restrained steel column bases. The fastener selection, foundation geometry, and material quality are crucial for the cost-effective and safe design of the column base.
A previous article presented different variants of surface elastic foundations in addition to the traditional subgrade reaction modulus method. The following article describes another method for surface foundation. This method considers the adjacent ground areas by means of a foundation overlap. In this case, foundation parameters refer to the continuing works by Pasternak and Barwaschow.
In the case of tension connections with cleats subjected to unilateral loading, the external members (side timber) are loaded by an additional bending moment due to the eccentric load distribution. However, this fact is not mentioned in EN 1995‑1‑1 and is considered in the National Annex to DIN EN 1995‑1‑1 by the reduction of the tensile strength. This reduction depends on the pull-off strength of the fasteners.
The Master's Thesis of Tamás Drávai, Haroon Khalyar, and Gábor Nagy deals with the effect of interoperability between Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Finite Element Modeling (FEM) software on structural modeling and analysis. Several case studies were conducted, where a building information model was transferred from CAD to FEM software with different data exchange formats.
In order to represent the stiffness of the entire structure correctly, you can consider shear coupling between the ceiling and the downstand beam using the line release. This way, you can define a spring constant, thus avoiding the replacement system by using coupling members. The spring constant results from the shift modulus of the fastener, which can be determined according to EN 1995-1-1 or ANSI/AWC NDS, for example.
In RF-CONCRETE Surfaces, you can use the "Filter Points" function when evaluating results by points. This filter function allows for a user-defined group of points that can be defined in the result window. You can select the filter in Window 2.3 Required Reinforcement by Points, among others.
