What is the best way to generate a rotating surface or a surface in a polar direction?

The additional options within the Detail settings of the functions "Move," "Rotate," or "Mirror" are suitable for this, see Figure 1.

Figure 01 - Create Rotated Surface

Provided that it is necessary to draw an annular surface, whereby the center point,  and inside and outside radius are known, proceed as follows:

  • insert a node on the inner radius and the outer radius
  • connect the two nodes by means of a line
  • select these three objects
  • open the "Rotate" function
  • activate "Lines Between Nodes", as well as "Surfaces Between Lines"
  • pay attention to the type of connecting lines created when rotating
Enclosed you will find a short video available for download.
