Dlubal Software on Citrix Server

Is it possible to operate RFEM 6, RSTAB 9, and RSECTION 1 on a Citrix server?

Answer:

In principle, it is possible to use our software on a Citrix server. There are two problems that may occur:

  1. Graphics issues
  2. The FE mesh cannot be generated or the calculation cannot be started.

Graphics Issues

At Citrix, the OpenGL interface is implemented using a software renderer. This does not meet the minimum requirements for our software (OpenGL 4.2). This leads to a crash when the program starts.

If possible, it is necessary to enable the use of the hardware acceleration of the graphics card on the Citrix server.

If it is not possible, installing the software renderer that comes with RFEM and RSTAB can solve this problem. The installation process is described in this FAQ:

The disadvantage of the software renderer is that all graphics operations have to be done by the CPU instead of the highly specialized GPU. This limits the graphics performance. When many users are working on the server at the same time, the problem is even worse.

FE Mesh, Calculation

For Citrix systems, user profiles are often redirected by FSLogix in Storage Container.

Dlubal Software programs save a lot of data in the user profile in this folder:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Dlubal\

This leads to problems for redirected user profiles. An error message may appear saying that the FE mesh cannot be generated or that the calculation cannot be started.
