Steel Pergola in Plaza del Edificio L, Rafael Landívar University, Guatemala

Engineer Enrique de León, a Guatemalan Dlubal Software customer, presents a beautiful steel pergola project by which a rarely used space has been renovated in the 'L' building of the San Francisco de Borja SJ campus at the Rafael Landívar University in Guatemala City.

Structure

To support the roof and shape of the pergola, double T-section steel beams and columns have been used. The rafters supporting the roof are made of cold-formed cross-sections; the roof itself consists of a thermoacoustic sheet with a ventilation monitor, resting on the main structure.

Structural Analysis

The structural modeling and analysis was carried out in RFEM 6, optimizing the design using the Steel Design add-on, thus verifying the safety and compliance with all the ultimate and service limit states required in the standard.
