The stand-alone program RWIND allowed Davide Prando (architect) and Marco Rota Nodari (engineer) to optimize the project, highlighting some critical locations on the buildings' surfaces, due to the high positive and negative pressure values encountered.
The SDEA Engineering Solutions Advanced Engineering department has extensive experience in mechanical-structural analysis using the finite element method for various structure types and equipment for different industrial sectors such as steel, metalworking, oil and gas, energy, railroads, and metallurgy, among others, as well as for the construction sector.
VisLab, a start-up at the University of Parma, is a global leader in autonomous driving system development for various vehicle types. The American company Ambarella became aware of VisLab’s mission in a rapidly developing area characterized by strong competition, and decided to strategically acquire the company. As a result, a new location for headquarters to accommodate this research was required. Ambarella preferred the research center to remain on the University of Parma campus in Italy.
The German company Berliner Seilfabrik has designed and produced playground equipment for children since the 1970s. Climbing the spatial rope net structures helps children to develop and improve their psychomotor skills and three-dimensional perception abilities. The items of play equipment have names like Globe, UFO, and Twist & Shout.
The "Pneumatic Wedge Method" is a new method for the construction of double-curved concrete surfaces using pneumatic formwork. The advantage of this method is that elaborate structures for molds and scaffolding are no longer needed.
Using the "Pneumatic Wedge Method", the Vienna University of Technology has built a double-curved concrete shell as part of a research project. The deformation process and the final structural conditions have been checked with RFEM.
Janson Bridging in Hank, the Netherlands, produces temporary, emergency, and permanent bridges for civil, industrial, and military use. All these bridges - consisting of several types - are based on modular concepts that can be easily adjusted to the requests of the customer.
The project for designing a filter/dryer device, including agitator, required a complete stress and deformation analysis in RFEM. The complex modeling of the structure, which had 1,424 surfaces, 158 solids, and 425 members, represented a special design challenge.
In the multi-story administration building, the spatial interaction of the stiffening wall and ceiling surfaces was necessary for stiffening the building.
