Everything is online. This also applies to Dlubal licenses for RFEM 6, RSTAB 9, and RSECTION. It has many advantages, but it also means that users need to borrow and return licenses via the Internet.
In order to start these programs for the first time, it is necessary for the user to have the Internet connection at the beginning. The license is then active on the PC for the standard 24 hours without requiring the Internet connection. After 24 hours, the Internet connection is required again for an extension of another 24 hours.
When the program is closed, the license is released within a few seconds if the Internet connection is active. Logging out of the program also releases the license if the Internet connection is active. After a session duration of 24 hours, the license is automatically released on the Dlubal license server, with the exception of borrowed licenses.
So why this FAQ?
Many users ask us whether administrators or we can release a license.
However, there is no way to log out users externally. Neither for you nor for us. We can only allow them to log in again, which is essentially equivalent to another license.
To our knowledge, this usually works without any problems if the user does not shut down the system without exiting the program. Since there is then no longer a LAN connection, the license cannot be returned and remains blocked. You need to act accordingly. Especially when using terminal servers, simply logging out does not log you out of the program, which means that the license remains linked to the session!
In general, you have three options:
1. Close the program, wait 10-60 seconds, and shut down the system
2. Log out actively (safest method, but requires you to re-enter your email address and password)
3. Release the license via the license manager – select the DEMO license
You can test live whether the license has been successfully returned. As soon as the file user_data_v4.bin has been deleted from the path C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Dlubal by the program, the license is free again (USERNAME = Windows user name).
