For the member type 'Cable on Pulleys', it is possible to define pulleys with a defined pulley diameter (D) at discrete intermediate nodes.
Using the new 'New Pulley' dialog box, pulleys can be configured with the following parameters:
Pulley Parameters The pulleys are assigned a pulley diameter D in meters. Optionally, the pulley can be designed as a 'Crossing Pulley', where the cable is crossed over the pulley.
Loss Modeling For each pulley, three modeling variants for pulley losses are available:
- None – Friction losses are neglected
- Friction – Consideration of axle friction via the axle diameter d
- Efficiency – Specification of a dimensionless efficiency value ε
RFEM automatically and generically adjusts the structural model in the background to the specified pulley diameters. The geometric relationships from the pulley diameter and the selected loss approaches are transparently transferred to the computational model without the user having to make manual model adjustments.
