The Steel Design add-on has a number of interesting features. For example, it allows you to perform cross-section resistance design and stability analysis of steel member structures in the ultimate limit state. The input and result evaluation are completely integrated in the user interface of the 3D structural FEA software RFEM. You can select from a wide range of available cross-sections, such as rolled I-sections, channel sections, T-sections, angles, rectangular and circular hollow sections, round bars, and parametric I-, T-, and angle sections, as well as symmetrical and asymmetrical, and built-up cross-sections, whose suitability for design may vary, depending on the selected standard.
It is possible to design general RSECTION cross-sections depending on the design formats available in the respective standard; for example, equivalent stress design. The design of tapered members can also be carried out depending on the standard. Furthermore, the program allows you to adjust the essential design factors and standard parameters, and provides detailed setting options for flexibility in terms of both the basis and the extent of the calculation.
