A membrane structure will elegantly span the grandstand on the East Campus of the Xuzhou University of Technology. The structure was designed by Jiangsu Jingong Space Structure Co., Ltd.
In June 2023, a roof of the amphitheater of the Municipal Theater in Most was successfully completed. The membrane structure has been specially designed to provide protection from the sun and rain above the stage, while making the entire space a visual attraction. The author of the design is Carl Stahl & spol.; the calculation was carried out using the programs RFEM 5 and RWIND 2.
The stand-alone program RWIND allowed Davide Prando (architect) and Marco Rota Nodari (engineer) to optimize the project, highlighting some critical locations on the buildings' surfaces, due to the high positive and negative pressure values encountered.
For many years, VM Architettura Integrata has been involved in the design of rainscreens for buildings of considerable size; in this particular case, the collaboration between Arch. Davide Prando and Eng. Marco Rota Nodari has enabled the further development of wind flow analyses, examining two towers with heights of about 393 ft and 295 ft (120 m and 90 m), respectively, in a digital wind tunnel.
An innovative research project has been carried out on the company premises of STM Montage GmbH in Lunzenau, Germany: A wind power plant with a lattice tower, where the uppermost segment consists of fiber-reinforced molded timber pipes.
The construction of a 328-foot-high tower at an altitude of about 6,890 ft above sea level is a particularly challenging task. A project of this type was realized in September 2020 in the area of the "Windsfeld" summit in Flachau / Flachauwinkl, Austria. The met mast is one of the tallest structures in Austria.
Removable guyed masts are used not only for telecommunications purposes, but also for collecting wind data in order to evaluate the profitability of a planned wind farm. These removable and permanent towers can reach heights of up to 492 ft and are mounted at the planned windmill height in uninhabited areas.
The Under Canvas company provides a unique opportunity for all-inclusive adventure glamping (glamorous camping). Established in 2009, the company has grown to include multiple luxury glamping resorts and customized events all over the country.
The chapel adjoining the old convent of San Pedro in Lugo, Spain is an original construction dating back to 1690. Its ancient roof structure was based on trusses simply supported in putlog holes located in the main wall of the church. Damage appeared here. Over time, the lower vault of the structure deteriorated to the point of limiting access to the interior.
The renovation consisted of completely replacing the roof in order to make the space below fully usable again and to provide natural light to the main temple room through the stunning church windows. Previously, the windows were boarded up in order to support the roof trusses.
A new multi‑purpose hall in the historic city center of Calais, France was inaugurated in mid-June 2015.
The hall, made of steel, timber, and aluminum, has a modular structure. Therefore, it can be used for many occasions (weekly markets, fairs, concerts, spectacles, and much more).
The clear style and the windows on the north and south sides allow a great deal of daylight, which is reflected by the internal wood cladding. On the west side, a folding door can be opened. It can then be used as a 69-foot-wide outdoor stage.
The marina hotel is situated between Friedrichshafen and Lindau, on Lake Constance, one of the most attractive regions in Germany.
However, this exclusive location offers some challenges which must be considered in the structural engineering. For example, actions due to wind and earthquakes are considerably increased in the area around the lake.
