In RFEM and RSTAB, you can visualize the flow field quantities of pressure, velocity, turbulence kinetic energy, and turbulence dissipation rate for the wind simulation.
The clipping planes are aligned with the respective wind direction.
Global 3D calculation of the global model, where the slabs are modeled as a rigid plane (diaphragm) or as a bending plate
Local 2D calculation of the individual floors
After the calculation, the results of the columns and walls from the 3D calculation and the results of the slabs from the 2D calculation are combined in a single model. This means that there is no need to switch between the 3D model and the individual 2D models of the slabs. The user only works with one model, saves valuable time, and avoids possible errors in the manual data exchange between the 3D model and the individual 2D ceiling models.
The vertical surfaces in the model can be divided into shear walls and opening lintels. The program automatically generates internal result members from these wall objects, so they can be designed as members according to any standard in the Concrete Design add-on.
Shear walls and deep beams of a building model are available as independent objects in the design add-ons. This allows for faster filtering of the objects in results, as well as better documentation in the printout report.
The "2D | Story" calculation diagram type is used to create result diagrams via the building axis. This allows you to easily analyze the behavior of the entire building under static and dynamic effects.
You can use this diagram type, for example, to visualize the seismic force over the building height.
Do you already know the editor for mesh refinement control? It is a great help for your work! Why? It's easy – it gives you the following options:
Graphic visualization of the areas with mesh refinements
Mesh refinement of zones
Deactivating the standard 3D solid mesh refinement with transversion into the corresponding manual 3D mesh refinements.
These options help you to formulate a suitable rule for meshing the entire model, even for the models with unusual dimensions. Use the editor to efficiently define small model details on large buildings or detailed meshing areas in the coating area of the model. You will be amazed!
Did you know? You can export all RFEM/RSTAB tables with the results individually or all at once directly into an Excel table or as a CSV file. There are several options available to you:
With table headers
Selected objects only
Filled rows only
Only filled tables
Export data as plain text
This way, the program allows you to control and clearly manage the exported data. You can export the stored formulas directly in the table or as a separate table, as in the case of the used parameters.
You probably already know that node, line, and surface releases are used to define transfer conditions between objects. For example, you can release members, surfaces, and solids from a line. It is also easily possible for the releases to have nonlinear properties, such as "Fixed if positive n", "Fixed if negative n", and so on.
A graphical and tabular output of the results for deformations, stresses, and strains helps you when determining the soil solids. To achieve this, use the special filter criteria for targeted selection of results.
The program doesn't leave you alone with the results. If you want to graphically evaluate the results in the soil solids, you can use the guide objects. For example, you can define clipping planes. This allows you to view the corresponding results in any plane of the soil solid.
And not just that. The utilization of result sections and clipping boxes facilitates the precise graphical analysis of the soil solid.
As usual, you enter the structural system and calculate the internal forces in the programs RFEM and RSTAB. You have unlimited access to the extensive material and cross-section libraries. Did you know that you can create general cross-sections using the RSECTION program? That saves you a lot of work.
Don't be afraid of additional windows and input chaos! Aluminum Design is completely integrated into the main programs and automatically takes into account the structure and the available calculation results. You can directly assign further entries for the aluminum design, such as effective lengths, cross-section reductions, or design parameters, to the objects to be designed. You can simply and efficiently select the elements graphically using the [Select] function.
As you've already learned, the results of a Modal Analysis load case are displayed in the program after a successful calculation. You can thus immediately see the first mode shape graphically or as an animation. You can also easily adjust the representation of the mode shape standardization. Do that directly in the Results navigator, where you have one of four options for the visualization of the mode shapes available for the selection:
Scaling the value of the mode shape vector uj to 1 (considers the translation components only)
Selecting the maximum translational component of the eigenvector and setting it to 1
Considering the entire eigenvector (including the rotation components), selecting the maximum, and setting it to 1
Setting the modal mass mi for each mode shape to 1 kg
You can find a detailed explanation of the mode shape standardization in the OnlineManual here.
In addition to the "Mesh Refinement" and "Specific Direction" options for solids, you can also activate the "Grid for Results" option, which allows for organizing grid points in the solid space. Among other things, the center of gravity can be set as the origin. There is also the option to activate or deactivate the visibility of the grid for numerical results in "Navigator – Display" under Basic Objects.
It is often necessary to neglect masses. This is particularly the case when you want to use the output of the modal analysis for the seismic analysis. For this, 90% of the effective modal mass in each direction is required for the calculation. So you can neglect the mass in all fixed nodal and line supports. The program automatically deactivates the associated masses for you.
You can also manually select the objects whose masses are to be neglected for the modal analysis. We have shown the latter in the image for a better view. A user-defined selection is made the and the objects with their associated mass components are selected to neglect the masses.
Did you know? You can easily define structural modifications in load cases of the Modal Analysis type. This allows you, for example, to individually adjust the stiffnesses of materials, cross-sections, members, surfaces, hinges, and supports. You can also modify stiffnesses for some design add-ons. Once you select the objects, their stiffness properties are adapted to the object type. In this way, you can define them in separate tabs.
Do you want to analyze the failure of an object (for example, a column) in the modal analysis? This is also possible without any problems. Simply switch to the Structure Modification window and deactivate the relevant objects.
You can enter the structural system and calculate the internal forces in the programs RFEM and RSTAB. You have full access to the extensive material and cross-section libraries.
Timber Design is completely integrated into the main programs. At the same time, it automatically takes into account the structure and the available calculation results. You can assign further entries for the timber design, such as effective lengths, cross-section reductions, or design parameters, to the objects to be designed. You can easily select the elements graphically using the [Select] function at many places of the program.
Communication is the key to success. This also applies to a client-server relation. WebService and API provides you with an XML based information exchange system for direct client-server communication. Programs, objects, messages, or documents can be integrated into these systems. For example, a web service protocol of the HTTP type runs for the client-server communication when you are looking for something in the Internet using a search engine.
Now back to Dlubal Software. In our case, the client is your programming environment (.NET, Python, JavaScript) and the service provider is RFEM 6. Client-server communication allows you to send requests to and receive feedback from RFEM, RSTAB, or RSECTION.
What is the difference between WebService and an API?
WebService is a collection of open source protocols and standards used to exchange data between systems and applications. In contrast, an application programming interface (API), is a software interface through which two applications can interact without a user being involved.
Thus, all web services are APIs, but not all APIs are web services.
What are the advantages of the WebService technology? You can communicate more quickly within and between organizations.A service can be independent of other services.Webservice allows you to use your application to make your message or feature available to the rest of the world.Webservice helps you to exchange data between different applications and platforms Several applications can communicate, exchange data, and share services with each other. SOAP ensures that programs created on different platforms and based on different programming languages can exchange data securely.
Communication between the web service client and server is optionally encrypted via the https protocol. To do this, you can install an SSL certificate with the corresponding private key in the settings.
Reinforced concrete usually answers the question "How much can you carry?" simply with "Yes". Nevertheless, you need a three-dimensional moment-moment-axial force interaction diagram for the graphical output of the ultimate limit state of reinforced concrete cross-sections. The Dlubal structural analysis software offers you just that.
With the additional display of the load action, you can easily recognize or visualize whether the limit resistance of a reinforced concrete cross-section is exceeded. Since you can control the diagram properties, you can customize the appearance of the My-Mz-N diagram to suit your needs.
Do you want to determine the biaxial bending resistance of a reinforced concrete cross-section? For this, you have to activate a moment-moment interaction diagram (My-Mz diagram) first. This My-Mz diagram represents a horizontal section through the three-dimensional diagram for the specified axial force N. Due to the coupling to the 3D interaction diagram, you can also visualize the section plane there.
Use the new useful structure modification object to modify or deactivate stiffnesses, nonlinearities, and objects in a clear and load case-dependent way.
A change in favor of more efficient work withh the program: Your user-defined coordinate systems for input and analysis purposes are now organized globally under the guide objects.
Webservice and API opens up a wide range of new possibilities for you. You can create your own desktop or web-based applications by controlling all objects included in RFEM 6 and RSTAB 9. By providing libraries and functions, you can develop your own design checks, effective modeling of parametric structures, as well as optimization and automation processes using the programming languages Python and C#. Does that sound exciting to you? Then find out more here!
You can now work even more efficiently with the Data Navigator. Its clear structure makes it easy to use. The navigator contains assignable types for objects as well as a hyperlink function that allows you to quickly jump to the assigned elements of an object.

RWIND Basic uses a numerical CFD model (Computational Fluid Dynamics) to simulate wind flows around your objects using a digital wind tunnel. The simulation process determines specific wind loads acting on your model surfaces from the flow result around the model.
A 3D volume mesh is responsible for the simulation itself. For this, RWIND Basic performs an automatic meshing on the basis of freely definable control parameters. For the calculation of wind flows, RWIND Basic provides you with a stationary solve and RWIND Pro provides a transient solver for incompressible turbulent flows. Surface pressures resulting from the flow results are extrapolated onto the model for each time step.
