Silk Road International Exhibition Center, Xi'an, China

The Silk Road Exhibition Center is located northeast of the city of Xi'an, the starting point of the ancient Silk Road. Together with the International Conference Center, it forms the exhibition center complex.

This is a large-scale convention and exhibition center that integrates cultural, commercial, and technological functions. It is a place for organizing summits, exhibitions, and transactions.

Structure

The architectural design of the Silk Road International Exhibition Center is an interpretation of and response to the ancient city wall and cityscape of Xi'an using modern architecture. The walls of the exhibition hall are made of natural stone, and the stone wall with a certain slope adopts the structural language of the ancient city wall of Xi'an. Corresponding to the sturdy plinth is the light and streamlined roof design, with undulating and cascading curved roofs, evoking distant memories of the flowing sand dunes on the Silk Road.

The building of the hall stands out from the building of the exhibition hall. The extremely high gate reproduces the cultural symbol of the city gate. The facade allows visitors to locate the entrance from a distance. The staggered roof forms a stepped roof overhang, extending from inside to outside, and is supported by huge cross-shaped pillars. These columns are tapered towards the top.

Dlubal customer Huana Engineering Consulting (Beijing) Co., Ltd. was responsible for the facade structure design of this project. The civil engineers used RSTAB from Dlubal Software to develop, model, calculate, and design the facade.
