This chapter explains how to assign a cross-section and material to a hip rafter.
Defining Cross-Section
Select the three lines belonging to the hip rafter and double-click to open the editing dialog box. Change the line type in the options to Member. A new dialog box opens automatically where you can define the member properties. In the "Section" tab, you can open the cross-section library using the button, which includes a large number of cross-sections.
For the hip rafter, select a thick-walled rectangular cross-section with a width of 100 mm and a height of 240 mm. This information can be specified in the "Parametric - Thick-Walled I" tab.
Defining Material
You can assign the material to the cross-section in the "Main" tab. There is also a library for materials in RFEM 6 that you can open using the button.
Filter for the material type "Timber" and then search among all timber materials for GL24h, which will be used for the hip rafter. Confirm all entries by clicking "OK".
