Defining Supports

Using the Assigning Nodal Supports button, you can assign a support to a node created by clicking New .

A fixed support should be used for the ring anchor. In the options, you can activate "Specific Direction" and enter -45° in the tab of the same name. This makes the support point in the same direction as the hip rafter. Click "OK" to confirm, select the node to which the support should be attached, and right-click to complete the entry.

It should be possible to move the purlin and the ridge in the X direction. To create the supports, proceed in the same way as described above, just deactivate the corresponding rigidity and assign the support to both associated nodes.

In order to consider the load bearing of the annular ring, the purlin ring, and the right ridge in the calculation of internal forces and the design, it is necessary to assign stiffnessesto the corresponding lines. This can be done either by converting the lines to members or by assigning line supports to them. The latter is possible by using the Assign Line Support button. The hinged support set by default is sufficient for this example and can be assigned to the lines.
