Extended Simulation of 3D Membrane Structure

The Master thesis deals with two types of membrane structures: a hyperbolic paraboloid with and without substructures, and the Kunštát roofing system based on hyperbolic curve, with supporting structures.

The author compares different software which were developed for design of geometrically nonlinear structures. On the basis of comparative analysis of stresses and deflections for the simple post-tensioned textile membrane structure, RFEM has been chosen as the best software for adequate numerical modeling of advanced structures' structural behavior.

In the end, the full design model for Kunštát roofing with textile membrane was performed in RFEM through uninterrupted procedure: "initial geometry – shape after form‑finding – loads on a new shape – results – member design in post‑processors."
