Background layers can be hidden or displayed in the Display Navigator under Guide Objects → Background Layers. The visibility can be defined individually or for all.
AnswerTo import background layers as DXF, use the 'Import as background layer' option in the 'Import Settings'.
AnswerThe display or the intensity of the inactive objects can be set under Options → Program Options → Graphics, as shown in Figure 01.
AnswerIn RFEM and RSTAB, you can define user-defined views and visibilities. The remaining or hidden structure is displayed in the background by default. It is possible to deactivate this option in Project Navigator - Display, so that the selected partial view is only visible and the rest of the structure is hidden completely.
AnswerThe easiest way to rotate the DXF file as a background layer is to use Project Navigator Data → Guide Objects → Background Layers, and rotate it about any axis by using the shortcut menu.
AnswerYou have probably changed the background color to "white" in the configuration "Standard with black background." Now, white text for the "Values on Surfaces" is displayed on a white background. This setting is not correct and thus, the text is not visible. In RFEM 5 or RSTAB 8, there are the "Configurations" for this specific case of application. You can open the Configuration Manager via the "Options" menu. See Figure 01.If you want to set a white background, just double-click the entry "Standard with white background." The background color then changes to white. This configuration changes not only the background color, but also the colors for all other settings, so the display properties of the entire program are adjusted to the white background color. In this way, you can avoid the problem of "white text on a white background."If you accidentally set the configuration inconveniently, you can reset it to the default values by clicking the button shown in Figure 02.
AnswerYou can hide the background layers in the "Display Navigator" (see Figure 01). If you want to delete a background layer, you can delete it in the "Data Navigator" (see Figure 02).
AnswerIf you can not grab any of the background film's dots, make sure the object snap settings are correct. If all other points are detected by object snap, the problem already lies with importing the background slide. If 2 lines are not exactly in one plane, even if these planes have only one infitisimal small distance, no node is formed during the import. Thus, this intersection can not be selected. You should solve this problem directly in your DXF file.
AnswerYou can control the intensity of the inactive objects in Program Options under the 'Graphics' tab (see figure).
In the DXF interface (direct import and background layers), the text is not supported.
As a workaround, you can use the 'ExpressTool' available in AutoCAD and convert the text to lines using the TXTEXP command. It might be necessary to reinstall the tool.

Wind Simulation & Wind Load Generation
With the stand-alone program RWIND Simulation, wind flows around simple or complex structures can be simulated by means of a digital wind tunnel.
The generated wind loads acting on these objects can be imported to RFEM or RSTAB.
Your support is by far the best
“Thank you very much for the useful information.
I would like to pay a compliment to your support team. I am always impressed how quickly and professionally the questions are answered. In the industry of structural analysis, I use several software including service contract, but your support is by far the best.”
