Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Customer Support 24/7
Except for RWIND Simulation, all Dlubal Software products use the same dongle driver. Therefore, the one-time update or installation is sufficient, for example.
The COMPOSITE‑BEAM program allows for design of composite beams according to the preliminary standard ENV 1994‑1‑1:1992:10.
Until further notice, the pre-standard is only implemented. The design according to EN 1994‑1‑1 is currently not possible.
See also the product description of COMPOSITE‑BEAM on the product page under the following link.
AnswerIf this error occurs, the download did not run correctly. Please download the program again. Please note that the file can only be opened after the complete download.
AnswerThe calculation in the COMPOSITE‑BEAM program for the design of composite beams is performed according to ENV 1994‑1‑1:1992‑10. This standard specifies a composite cross-section consisting of steel sections and reinforced concrete. The design of composite beams consisting of timber and reinforced concrete is performed according to EN 1995‑1‑3. In this case, the time-dependent load states t=0, t=3-7years and t=unlimited have to be analyzed in particular. These states are usually taken into account by means of impressed strains. This is done manually in the RFEM program. For this and many other reasons, it is not possible to design timber-concrete composite beams in the COMPOSITE‑BEAM program. However, you can find a lot of information about the design of timber-concrete composite beams on our homepage, for example here.
AnswerThe attached video shows how you can easily and quickly create a printout report with the results for the COMPOSITE‑BEAM program.
AnswerGenerally, the licensing requires two things:The license key can be provided via a USB dongle or via a network softlock on a central company server. For the licensing from a client, it is necessary to have a permanent connection to the server. Once a license has been assigned, it is visible on the web-based license interface at http://localhost:1947/_int_/sessions.html. The automatic time-out after 12 hours of inactivity prevents the license from being permanently assigned and, releases it to other users.
With the most recent generation of license keys, it is possible to activate 50 licenses for each program and add-on module. This means that you can access RFEM and RF‑STEEL EC3 from a maximum of 50 computers at the same time.

Whether the download of RFEM or RSTAB is displayed or not in the Download section of your Dlubal Account, depends on whether you have a service contract for the respective product or not.If a service contract has been concluded for the respective product, the links for this product are visible. If no service contract has been concluded, no links are visible. If you purchase RFEM or RSTAB without the service contract at a specific time, you are entitled to use this program version. If you need the download link for the purchased program version, you can download it on our homepage in the "Previous Program Versions" section.See the link to "Download Previous Versions" below.
AnswerUnfortunately, it is not possible to run any single-user licenses on virtual machines. Licensing is neither possible with the USB dongle nor with a softlock license. The test or trial version of RFEM 5 or RSTAB 8 is a time-limited version that is controlled by a softlock. Therefore, the trial version of RFEM 5 or RSTAB 8 cannot be tested on a virtual machine. In general, it is possible to operate a licensed version of RFEM 5 or RSTAB 8 on a virtual machine. However, you would need a network license for this. The same applies to the test versions of the stand-alone programs SHAPE‑THIN, RX‑TIMBER, PLATE‑BUCKLING, CRANEWAY, and COMPOSITE‑BEAM.More information can also be found in FAQ 002288.
Files with the file extension .rf5t or .rs8t were created using the trial version of RFEM or RSTAB. These files are bound to the computer where they were created and can therefore only be opened on the corresponding computer.
Please note that the commercial use of the trial version is not permitted.
Check whether the signal light of the dongle is on (see Figure 01). If it does not light up, try another USB slot, preferably using directly a motherboard and not a USB hub or the front of the computer.
If the light is still not on, use another PC to test it. If the result is the same, the dongle is most likely damaged and needs to be replaced.
If the error message appears, despite the signal light is on, please make sure that you are using the most current authorization file.
If you cannot solve the problem, please send us a screenshot of the error message, a brief description of the problem and the diagnostic file that you can generate by using the program menu "Help" (see Figure 02).

Wind Simulation & Wind Load Generation
With the stand-alone program RWIND Simulation, wind flows around simple or complex structures can be simulated by means of a digital wind tunnel.
The generated wind loads acting on these objects can be imported to RFEM or RSTAB.
“Thank you for the valuable information.
I would like to pay a compliment to your support team. I am always impressed how quickly and professionally the questions are answered. I have used a lot of software with a support contract in the field of structural analysis, but your support is by far the best. ”
