AnswerThe program COMPOSITE-BEAM for the design of composite beams is effected in accordance with ENV 1994-1-1: 1992-10. This standard specifies a composite profile consisting of steel sections and reinforced concrete.The design of composite beams consisting of timber and reinforced concrete is carried out according to EN 1995-1-3. In this case, the time-dependent load states t=0, t=3-7 years and t= unlimited have to be analyzed in particular. These states are usually taken into account by means of impressed strains. This is done manually in the RFEM program. For this and many other reasons, it is not possible to design timber-concrete composite beams in the COMPOSITE-BEAM program.However, on our homepage you can find a lot of information about the design of timber-concrete composite beams, for example here.

AnswerGenerally, two things are required for the licensing:The license key can be provided via a USB dongle or by means of a network softlock on a central company server. For the licensing from perspective of a client, there must be a permanent connection to the server. Once a license has been assigned, it can be viewed on the web-based license surface at http://localhost:1947/_int_/sessions.html. An automatic timeout after 12 hours of inactivity prevents a license from being permanently assigned and releases it to other users.
With the most recent generation of license keys, it is possible to activate 50 licenses per program and add-on module. This means that you can access RFEM and RF-STEEL EC3 from a maximum of 50 computers at a time.

AnswerUnfortunately, it is not possible to run any single-user licenses on virtual machines. Licensing is neither possible with the USB dongle nor with a softlock license.The test or trial version of RFEM 5 or RSTAB 8 is a time-limited version that is controlled by a softlock. Therefore, the trial version of RFEM 5 or RSTAB 8 cannot be tested on a virtual machine.In general, it is possible to operate a licensed version of RFEM 5 or RSTAB 8 on a virtual machine. For this, however, you would need a network license.The same applies to the test versions of the stand-alone programs SHAPE-THIN, RX-TIMBER, PLATE-BUCKLING, CRANEWAY, and COMPOSITE BEAM.For more information, see FAQ002288 .
Files with the file extension .rf5t or .rs8t were created using the trial version of RFEM or RSTAB. These files are bound to the computer where they were created and can therefore only be opened on the corresponding computer.
Please note that the commercial use of the trial version is not permitted.
Check whether the signal light of the dongle is on (see Figure 01). If it does not light up, try another USB slot, preferably using directly a motherboard and not a USB hub or the front of the computer.
If the light is still not on, use another PC to test it. If the result is the same, the dongle is most likely damaged and needs to be replaced.
If the error message appears, despite the signal light is on, please make sure that you are using the most current authorization file.
If you cannot solve the problem, please send us a screenshot of the error message, a brief description of the problem and the diagnostic file that you can generate by using the program menu "Help" (see Figure 02).

AnswerThe title block of the printout report is created using the authorization file, which was used in the initial installation of our programs.
A subsequent change in the authorization file does not necessarily change all report headers immediately.
For the changed title block to be created as default in the authorization file, the "old" one has to be removed first.
To do so, please delete the file "DlubalProtocolConfigNew.cfg" in the following (default) directory:
While deleting the file, our applications must be closed!
