Story Modeling - Rigid Diaphragm

The story modeling 'Rigid Diaphragm' creates a rigid diaphragm from nodal links in each defined story, as already described in the previous chapters. The floor is divided into floor sets for this purpose. All the outputs explained in the previous chapter are not explained further if the values do not change in the rigid diaphragm.

Before the results are explained, the distribution of stiffnesses is explained using this example. The model which you can also download here is identical to the example in the previous chapter. The only difference here is the 'Rigid Diaphragm' in the story modeling.

As already explained in the Building Stories chapter of this manual, nodal and line support modeling can have a major influence on the results.

To illustrate this, the reference model compares the results from the line support modeling 'Fixed Hinge Support' with the results from the 'Elastic Wall | Hinge-Hinge' calculation.

If stories with rigid and/or semi-rigid planes have been defined, a visibility is automatically created for them.
