Combine construction stages

The 'Load Cases and Combinations' dialog allows you to combine construction stages. This may be necessary in the case of complex systems, which, for example, arise in parallel during the construction process and thus develop as partial models. A linear superposition of the results would not be correct. In the combinations of the construction stages, you can consider the influences in accordance with the standards with load factors and thus create a design situation that includes all constellations of the construction stages for the designs.

Combination with combination wizard

The combination wizard is activated by default in the 'Basis' tab. This creates the combinations automatically.

In the 'Construction stages' tab, you can generate load combinations for certain construction stages in which the load factors of the actions are recorded accordingly: Select the construction stage in the 'list' and then check the Combinations according to combination wizard check box in the 'Options II' section.

When combining construction stages, it is important that you have defined a combination wizard and assigned it to the design situation the option Only consider construction stages is activated. You can use the Edit button to open the 'Edit combination wizard' dialog box to check this setting.

You can also create a new combination wizard that contains the option ' Consider construction stages only '. Then, in the 'Design Situation' tab, assign this wizard to a new design situation that is specifically used to combine construction stages.

A combination of actions is generated for each specified construction stage. The construction status is stored there for information.

A load combination of the design situation including the required auxiliary combinations is generated from each action combination. These are specified in the 'Load Combinations' register.

Manual Combination

As an alternative or in addition to the combination with the combination wizard, load and result combinations can also be generated manually in connection with the construction stage analysis.

Load combinations

In the 'Load Combinations' tab, use the New button at the end of the 'list' to create a new load combination. For this CO, you can then make the settings that are relevant for combining the construction stages in the 'Special Options' section.

Consider initial state from

In the list, select the stress and strain state on which the construction state is based. For a classic situation, this is a combination of the immediately preceding construction stage.

Tip

If there is no choice, first determine the construction stage that should be taken into account.

Use the list to specify which structural condition should be taken into account. You might have to create the required auxiliary combinations by hand.

Result Combinations

No 'special options' are required for combinatorics with result combinations: The construction stages are combined like ordinary load cases and load combinations.
