I use the add-on module PLATE-BUCKLING and need more detailed information on how the critical buckling stress for buckling behavior is calculated. The stiffeners end before the edges. Is the eigenvalue of the buckling analysis calculated as a member with the effective plate width?

Answer

If your buckling stiffeners are not defined within the complete length of buckling panel, the PLATE-BUCKLING program will automatically generate this stiffness as equivalent member incl. effective width and performs eigenvalue analysis by the BUCK Add-on Module. The result of it is the critical buckling stress of the member and thus of the stiffness. The length of the equivalent member is the stiffener length itself. It is currently not possible to display the internal results in detail.
