I use the add-on FE-Beul module and need more detailed information on how to calculate the critical kink stress in buckling-like behavior. The bulge ends before the edges. In doing so, is the eigenvalue of the buckling stiffness calculated as a bar with a contributing plate width?

Answer

If your buckling stiffeners are not defined over the complete buckling length, the FE-BEUL program will automatically use this stiffness as a spare rod incl. mitwirkender width generated and carried out using the additional module KNICK an eigenvalue calculation. This then gives the critical bending stress of the rod and thus the stiffness. The length of the replacement rod is the stiffener length. A detailed output of the internal results is not yet possible.
