Modeling
Water is taken into account by defining the surface of the free groundwater level. Groundwater levels are used to determine the effective soil weights. The geotechnical analysis can be performed for drained conditions.
Suitability
The procedure described is based on the assumption that a stationary groundwater level is present, that flow forces can be neglected, and that there is no confined groundwater in deeper layers.
