Modeling
The consideration of water is made possible by the definition of the surface of the free groundwater table. The groundwater levels are used to determine the effective soil weights. The geotechnical analysis can be carried out for drained conditions.
Suitability
The procedure described is based on the assumption that there is a stationary groundwater level, that flow forces can be neglected and that there is no constrained groundwater in the deeper layers.
