Member and Surface Configurations

If activating the "Stress-Strain Analysis" add-on, the "Stress-Strain Analysis" table category is available. You can define member configurations and surface configurations here, among other things. You can open the configuration settings by using the "Open Edit Dialog Box" button ( Open Edit Dialog Box ) in the table toolbar.

In the editing dialog box of the configurations, you can specify which stresses are to be calculated and which limit stress applies in each case. Select an existing configuration from the list or use the New button to create a new configuration.

Member Configuration

In the case of a member configuration, use the "Main" tab where you can specify for each stress type whether the limit normal stress, limit shear stress, or limit equivalent stress is to be used as a reference. However, you can also specify a user-defined limit stress. The von Mises equivalent stress is used as an example for the analysis of the segment. The corresponding formula is displayed in the right part of the dialog box.

Then, you can assign the configuration to the members individually. To do this, use the assignment function using the Select Individually button in the "Assigned to Member No." section (top right of the dialog box).

Surface Configuration

In the same way, you specify the surfaces in the "Edit Surface Configuration" dialog box. There you can specify, for example, that the membrane stresses are analyzed from the axial force in the direction of the local x- and y-axes, and define the limit stress which will be used for the comparison with the existing stresses.

Info

The information within a configuration applies to all objects to which this configuration is assigned. If an object is not included in any configuration, it will not be analyzed.
