Structural Analysis & Design Software for Buildings
The structural analysis program RFEM 6 is the basis of a modular program family. The main program RFEM is used to define structures, materials, and loads for planar and spatial structural systems consisting of plates, walls, shells, and members. The program also allows you to create combined structures as well as model solid and contact elements.
The structural frame analysis software RSTAB 9 has a similar range of functions as the FEA software RFEM. Due to the special attention to beam, frame, or truss structures, it is very easy to use and for many years it has been the best choice for structural analysis and design.
The RWIND 2 stand-alone program is recommended for complex structures. This program simulates wind flows around any structures by means of a digital wind tunnel.
The generated wind loads acting on these objects can be imported to RFEM or RSTAB.
The Geotechnical Analysis add-on for RFEM 6 uses the properties from soil samples to determine the soil body to be analyzed. The realistic determination of the soil conditions significantly influences the quality of the structural analysis of buildings (soil-structure interaction).
The Building Model add-on for RFEM 6 allows you to define and manipulate a building by means of stories. The stories can be adjusted in many ways afterwards. Information about the stories and also the entire model (center of gravity) is displayed in tables and graphics.
The Construction Stages Analysis (CSA) add-on for RFEM 6 allows you to consider the construction process of structures (member, surface, and solid structures). Neglecting the influence of the construction process can lead to errors in the calculation of overall models. With the Construction Stages Analysis (CSA) add-on, you can analyze these influences and consider them up to the point of the structural design.
The structural analysis software provided by Dlubal Software can be integrated seamlessly into the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process. The large number of interfaces ensures the data exchange of digital building models with RFEM or RSTAB.
The web service (programmable interface) can be used to read or write data from/to RFEM and RSTAB.
The multigenerational house with a lakeside view was built as an environmentally friendly timber structure and designed as a passive house.
The engineering office Pirmin Jung Deutschland GmbH, a customer of Dlubal Software, was in charge of structural analysis, among other things.
The signature feature of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City is the glazed atrium that connects the main entry to both performance venues. The glass façade and the glass skylight are supported entirely by the cable structure. The design was conceived as similar to a cello’s strings.
In June 2016, a new modern school was opened in Gol, Norway after almost two years of construction.
The three-story building with an approximate floor area of 91,493 ft² provides space for 750 students from the 1st through the 10th grade.
Brock Commons is a student residence currently under construction at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
The mass timber hybrid structure comprises five‑ply cross-laminated timber (CLT) floor panels, a concrete transfer slab, and a steel framed roof.
The New Candlewood Suites on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, is the first cross‑laminated timber (CLT) hotel constructed in the US.
This four-story building, made of 56,700 ft3 of CLT and 1,200 ft3 of glulam material, serves the lodging needs of the Redstone Arsenal Army post.
The "Little Flower" monastery was built in 2015, situated in beautiful scenery of green meadows, mountains, and crystal-clear lakes.
The little monastery is equipped with 18 bedrooms, a chapel, a dining room, a kitchen, and a conference room.
The historical building of Théâtre Marigny had to undergo renovation due to serious defects of the roof structure, which led to its closure in 2013.
The metastable equilibrium resulted from unreliable planning, which did not consider the effects of an asymmetrical load and suspended ceiling on the roof structure during construction in 1925.
Cavezzo is one of the towns in the region of Emilia-Romagna damaged by the 2012 earthquake.
As a result of this event, many public and private structures were heavily damaged and became uninhabitable. The municipal gym incurred such serious damage that it was necessary to completely demolish the existing reinforced concrete structure.

Determination, implementation, and displaying wind flow around structures/objects using digital wind tunnel.
- How do I determine wind loads on structures of any shape?
- Which roof and ground plan shapes can be considered with the wind and snow load generators of RFEM/RSTAB?
- Can I also generate a wind load on roof overhangs using the load generator?
- The building that I calculate is located in the North German Plain. How can I consider the increased snow load?
- How do I create a frame joint with taper in JOINTS Steel - Rigid?
- I would like to extend an existing structure with a false ceiling that is not connected to the existing columns. How can I model it?
- For line releases, I obtain the resultants in the horizontal direction, which I cannot understand.
- How can I display wind speeds at a certain height above the ground for a wind comfort analysis?
- Can I also use the wind load generator for open buildings?
- When evaluating the support reactions of a plate supported by line supports, I noticed that the support reaction pz' does not correspond to the shear force and deviates significantly. Why?
