Structural Analysis and Design of Pedestrian Bridge in Rwanda

The objective of the thesis is the design of a bridge made of Rwandan building materials and an analysis of subsoil conditions. During a 4-week stay on site with the Rwandan engineers from the Kigali Institute of Science, Technology and Management (KIST), suitable bridge locations were analyzed in terms of location, geometry, cross-sectional profile, and subsoil. Information on materials, design options, and prices are also collected. Based on these results, the structural analysis and design of a pedestrian bridge is carried out in Germany.
