Notional Loads from Load Case

By selecting the “Notional Loads from Load Case” imperfection type, you can define the equivalent loads for an imperfection case yourself.

To do this, select a load case in the "Notional Loads from Load Case" tab or create a new load case using the Create New Effective Length button. You can only use load cases without an action category, as these are not included in the combinatorics.

In contrast to member imperfections, which are also considered using equivalent loads, you can apply any loads independent of the axial force in the selected load case.

Calculation

When calculating a load case or a load combination with this imperfection type, the equivalent loads are taken into account in addition to the existing load.

Info

The equivalent loads are considered as additional loads in the calculation. They generate internal forces and deformations in the same way as the regularly defined loads.

It is not possible to calculate the imperfection case of the “Notional Loads from Load Case” type. To estimate the effect, you can calculate the original load case instead.
