Nonlinear Distribution of Longitudinal Forces and Bending Moments in Bolts of Prestressed T-Stub

Longitudinal force, bending, and torsion prevail in the bolts of prestressed T-stubs. While the torsion is applied by the prestressing and does not change under a tensile load of the T-stub, there is a nonlinear relation between the external tensile force and the longitudinal force or the bending moment in the bolt.

So far, there is no such a model, in which this relation between the tensile force on a prestressed T-stub and the normal forces or bending moments prevailing in the bolts is recorded. In the currently valid set of standards for steel structures, DIN 18800, there is no calculation approach to establish the relation between the tensile force and the axial force of the bolt, or between the tensile force and the bending moment of the bolt.

Therefore, the objective of the thesis is to derive a model for the prestressed T-stubs subjected to tensile loads from the presented calculation model of an L-flange, based on the article "Nonlinear Longitudinal Force and Bending Moment Distribution in the Bolt of Prestressed L-Flanges" by LEHMANN.
