Activating the Concrete Design

The concrete design of the surfaces and members is globally controlled by the 'Base Data' settings of the model. To activate that feature, click Base Data on the File menu or use the Editing General Data button on the toolbar. Then select the Add-ons tab of the 'Edit Model - Base Data' dialog box.

Select the Concrete Design option. By doing so, the design of all concrete surfaces and beams, inclusive of columns, is enabled.

Then go on to the Standards I tab to check the standard that is preset for the concrete design.

Make sure that EN 1992 is set as standard group for 'Concrete design'. The 'National Annex' list provides a selection of country settings. In this tutorial, however, the universal CEN recommendations are to be applied.

Click OK to close the 'Base Data' dialog box. When the program asks you whether all results are to be deleted because of the modified parameters, click Yes.

In the navigator, two new folders have been added: 'Types for Concrete Design' and 'Concrete Design'. They include the parameters and items that are specific to the design of all concrete objects.

In the graphics, you can see the member reinforcements that are set by default.
