This project deals with structural evaluation against climatic loads and the utilization and seismic analysis of an existing telecommunications tower performed by SAQQARA INGENIERIA S.L., a customer of Dlubal Software. The structure is a lattice tower with a square section plan, made of steel cross-sections, with a radar and the necessary auxiliary equipment installed on it, including a spherical radome as a mimicry.
This project was designed using BIM technology. During the documentation process, IFC files were used for the data exchange. The architectural building model was first created in REVIT, then exported to RFEM to apply loads and complete the full structural analysis and design.
The Under Canvas company provides a unique opportunity for all-inclusive adventure glamping (glamorous camping). Established in 2009, the company has grown to include multiple luxury glamping resorts and customized events all over the country.
For a project in Rotterdam, ADS Ertner used IDEA CONNECTION to analyze a structural steel connection. This program calculates steel connections utilizing the CBFEM method, where each thin-walled cross-section is modeled with nonlinear material properties, nonlinear bolts, and nonlinear welds. In order to transfer loads, ADS Ertner needed to use blocks in the connection model. In IDEA CONNECTION, blocks are not easily integrated with thin-walled plates.
The school building addition in Sutz-Lattrigen was built on the existing foundation floor. This foundation was not designed to withstand a second story. Therefore, the loads from the first floor and the additional second story had to be designed as concentrated loads. In order to reduce the weight but also for educational and sustainability reasons, timber was used in the construction of the new building.
A kindergarten, designed according to Building Information Modeling (BIM), is currently under construction in the Tyrolean municipality of Schwoich. The digital 3D model accompanies the construction project from design until completion.
The architectural planning was performed with Autodesk Revit. The structural model, including cross-sections, materials, loads, and so on, was exported to RFEM with the direct interface and designed there.
The engineering office Études Techniques Lyonnaises was commissioned with the structural design of the foundations for a new unloading area of an industrial site in the department of Isère, France.
The new unloading area consists of a steel structure built on a foundation plate. The total area is divided into two parts: a traffic and unloading area for rail vehicles, and an area with a pit and a traffic zone for lift trucks.
At the beginning of December 2016, a giant wooden airship “suspended” above the Center for Contemporary Art in Prague, Czech Republic, opened to the public.
The unique timber and steel airship structure was named “Gulliver” and, just like the early zeppelins, it represents both the eternal human desire to fly, and a certain utopian ideal. Gulliver will serve as space for literary events related to the themes of DOX’s exhibitions. These exhibitions are characterized by critical reflection on the situation of our contemporary world.
Théâtre Marigny is located on the Avenue des Champs-Elysées in Paris. The building (hall, ceiling, decor) as well as the wooded area, situated next to the Elysée Palace, have been declared historical monuments.
The boiler supporting structure with a combustion chamber is used as the main stiffening element of the coal‑fired plant in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, India.
The boiler supporting structure measures 100 ft x 100 ft x 406.8 ft and, together with the boiler roof arranged above, it has to withstand loads of about 50,706 t.
The continuous casting plant of the JSW ISPAT steelworks in India was extended by an additional level and completed by new plant components and stair towers. At the same time, the existing structure was reinforced to be able to absorb the additional weight of the new components as well as increased seismic loads.
An extraordinary project was born when the architectural office of bergmeister-wolf designed a new workshop for wood carving art in Val Gardena, South Tyrol.
As the triangulated facade could be used only partially for load application, the building represented a great challenge for the responsible timber construction engineer. But the Italian Dlubal Software customer Schrentewein & Partner mastered the task by primarily using the building's inside parts for transferring loads.
During the Antarctic summer months of 2010/2011 and 2011/12, a new research station was built in East Antarctica for the Indian Ministry for Earth Sciences. The design and planning came from the German offices of bof architekten and IMS Ingenieurgesellschaft in Hamburg, Germany.
The complex structural system consists of an enveloping steel structure and a total of 134 special containers integrated to transfer vertical and horizontal loads. The final structural analysis was carried out by the German engineering office of KSF in Bremerhaven.
Many of the stone monuments in the Angkor archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are currently ruins. The condition of the intact monuments is worsening quickly.
Thus, international experts are looking intensively into the causes of the poor technical condition of these important monuments and trying to find suitable solutions to rescue them. The Czech research team is participating in saving these monuments in Angkor as well, with the five‑year research project "Thermal Imaging and Structural Analysis of Sandstone Monuments in Angkor".
The main objective of the project is represented by an analysis of the stone structures' loading due to environmental temperature changes and the influence of this loading on the static safety of the monuments. In addition to the research performed directly in Angkor, numerical simulations of the behavior of stone structures loaded by external actions, focused on the effect of temperature changes, also forms a part of the project.
The structural engineering software RFEM for FEM analysis and design by Dlubal Software was used to create numerical models and carry out the structural analysis. The revolving superstructure of a shiploader for coal can be moved in a horizontal direction.
The feed hopper is a part of the conveyor belt system realized in Uzbekistan.
The engineering office of Jürgen Ehlenz, a customer of Dlubal Software, was responsible for structural analysis and detailed design, as well as construction drawings of the feed hopper and other parts of the conveyor system.
The grate scaffolding of the biomass power plant in Berlin-Neukölln, Germany, is a structure with a high temperature load.
The engineering office of Jürgen Ehlenz from Beckingen, a long-time Dlubal customer, was responsible for the structural analysis of the grate scaffolding with moving parts, as well as for the construction and design of the piping.
The following model was analyzed for a load case during a presentation at the Systems fair in Munich in 2002.
The picture shows only a segment of the entire arena. The structure includes a total of 67 load cases and 6 load combinations. The calculation time of all load cases is approximately 2.5 minutes (Pentium IV, 1.99 GHz, 512MB RAM).
The analysis of the roller coaster seat concerned a total of 6 load cases, 6 load combinations, and 1 result combination.
The figure shows deformations due to the self-weight load case.
The figure above shows the equivalent stress distribution under a concentrated load in the coordinate origin.
The model includes 115 load cases and 20 result combinations.
