Question

For plotting, is it possible to set the print quality higher than the "Maximum (max 5000 × 5000 pixels)" in the "solid" display mode?

Answer:

Unfortunately, it is not. In our experience, the quality of the printout depends on the printer driver. If you have any problems, please try to find the solution there.

If the rendering is already displayed as jagged in RFEM or RSTAB, this is due to the graphics card. The rendering is displayed using the OpenGL functions. You can control this under "Options" → "Program Options" in the "Graphics" tab (see the image). Another graphics card driver could also improve the display (download, for example, from www.treiber.de).

When plotting, huge amounts of data are processed. Thus, the limits of the operating systems are sometimes exceeded. Therefore, a very good quality plot output in size ISO A0 may be problematic. RFEM does not use its own drivers to control the plotter, but the drivers provided by Windows. Tests have shown that these drivers are unstable and buggy. Therefore, we strongly recommend using the original drivers of the plotter manufacturer. The plotter should not be set as the default printer in Windows, but only selected when printing.

Many plotter drivers offer the alternatives of preparing the graphic in a plotter or a computer. Preparation in the plotter is faster, but since the plotter has only a very small main memory, some parts of the image may be lost. This leads to missing labels, lines, or filling. The plotter often displays a corresponding message, for example: HP "Data Lost".
