The tendon cross-section describes the tendon property of a line used to model the tendon geometry.
Requirements
The tendon is necessary to meet the following requirements:
- Member type Tendon
- Cross-section type Standardized → Rebar sections / Tendon sections (standard-dependent) or Members → Rebar sections (parametric)
- Material type Steel, Reinforcing steel, or Prestressing steel
Defining Member Type
You can define the member properties of a tendon as usual:
- Assign a Member to the line with the tendon geometry.
- In the “New Member” dialog box, select the “Tendon” member type in the “Main” tab.
Like a cable member, the “Tendon” member type has only one tangential stiffness.
Defining Cross-Section
Define the cross-section of the tendon in the Cross-Section tab.
If no suitable cross section has been defined yet, you can, for example
- Create a new cross section using the
button.
- Open the library in the “New Cross-Section” dialog box using the
button.
- Open the cross-section series (see the image Cross-Section Types for Tendons), and
- Select the cross-section and specify the geometry parameters, if necessary.
Assigning Material
Define the material of the tendon.
Also here, the
button is useful for selecting the material in the library.
The following material types are allowable for tendons:
- Steel
- Reinforcing steel
- Prestressing steel
