Strains on Surfaces

The results tables of the Strains on Surfaces category include the result values of the determined strains.

Info

The strains of the surfaces are determined if you have activated the Strain analysis check box in the Global Settings dialog box.

The surface strains are sorted in the tabs according to the following criteria:

  • Loads (design situations, load combinations)
  • Surface properties (materials, thicknesses)
  • Objects (surfaces, FE mesh points)

Surface No.

For each strain type, the number of the surface with the highest value is displayed.

Mesh Node No.

This column shows the number of the FE mesh node for which the maximum strain was determined.

Info

If you have specified the "Calculate results in grid point" option in the Global Settings dialog box, the numbers of the grid points are specified in this column. The results are then related to the surface grid .

Mesh Node Coordinates

The global coordinates X, Y, and Z of the FE mesh nodes are shown in three columns.

Design Situation

This column indicates the number of the design situation for which the individual strains are available.

Loading

The numbers of the load or result combinations that are governing for the respective stress are specified.

Layer No. / Side

If you have defined a surface using layer elements with the Multilayer Surfaces add-on, the numbers of the layers are indicated with the respective strains.

For the maximum value of each strain type, the position in the cross-section of the surface or layer at which the strain is present is specified: top, middle, or bottom.

Strain Type

This column lists the strain types that you have defined and assigned in the Surface Configurations .

Strain Existing

The existing strain is specified for each strain type.

Strain | Plastic Existing / Limit

For surfaces with the Plastic (Surfaces/Solids) material model, the existing plastic strains are displayed with the corresponding limit value.

Strain Ratio Plastic η

For plastic materials, the last column shows the strain ratios (design ratios) related to the limit value. The utilization degree is expressed by the length of the colored bar.
