Tab 'Base'

The settings in the Base tab are divided into several sections.

Important

Depending on the selected component series, some of the described functions may not be available.

Component Series

This section shows the component series from which the selected component originates.

Object Assignment Type

The object assignment type specifies the model object to which the component is assigned.

Depending on the component series, the following assignments are possible, for example:

  • Member
  • Member start
  • Member end
  • Member start/end

The object assignment type is specified by the component series and determines the available input fields as well as the position of the component in the model.

Component Rotation

The component rotation settings allow you to adjust the orientation of the component.

The following parameters are available:

  • Rotation sequence
    • Selection of the order in which rotations are performed (e.g., X'Y'Z')
  • Rotations
    • αX'
    • αY'
    • αZ'

The angles can be specified in degrees.

Tip

Using the Decimal Places button at the bottom left of the dialog box, you can change the units at any time.

Alignment | Insertion Point of Component

This section defines the insertion point of the component relative to the assigned object. The following settings are available:

  • Component point no.
    • Selection of the insertion point of the component:
      • By selecting in the preview image Icon for Selection or via the selection list
  • Add offset
    • Definition of an additional offset of the component via the coordinates:
      • ex
      • ez

The schematic representation shows the currently selected insertion point of the component.

Alignment | Cross-section Point

This section defines the position of the component relative to the cross-section of the assigned member.

The following settings are available:

  • Cross-section point no.
    • Selection of a defined reference point of the cross-section
      • By selecting in the preview image Icon for Selection or via the selection list
  • Add offset
    • additional offset in
      • ey
      • ez

You can also navigate directly to the cross-section values via the Section Information button.

The schematic representation shows the position of the selected cross-section point.

Longitudinal Alignment

The longitudinal alignment defines the orientation of the component along the assigned member.

Here, you can specify which connected cross-section the component should refer to. Additionally, an offset in the member direction can be defined via the parameter ex.
