The first part of the thesis is about the structural design of the building, from the architectural project to the dimensioning of the structure's elements and connections and the vertical and horizontal loads. In particular, a reinforced concrete structure combined with two types of timber structural systems is designed: cross-laminated timber walls and glued-laminated timber frames, and also floor slabs consisting of timber and concrete.

The second part, however, concerns the technological aspect of the building, for which it was possible with reference to the information relating to the existing structure to redesign the layer composition as well as the construction details in order to guarantee on the one hand the durability of the building and on the other hand to carry out a reliable economic comparison between two buildings with the same performance. Finally, particular attention is paid to the problem of humidity in timber structures, considering as a solution different monitoring systems capable of detecting anomalous behavior within the timber structure.
