Importing and Using DXF Background Layer

DXF layers of ground plans cannot be used directly in FEA programs because only the outer contours of the elements (walls, ceilings, and so on) are available in the drawing. The FEM programs require system axes, but only the outer contours of the elements (walls, ceilings, and so on) are available in the DXF drawing.

Nevertheless, a DXF layer can be very helpful. For example, you can also use the RFEM "Parallel Line with Offset" function under "Tools" in the menu for background layers (and thus, inactive lines) after the import. If two lines overlap in a corner point, the redundant part of the lines is removed automatically. Optionally, you can automatically extend the lines in the outer corners.
